How long should I quarantine a new fish?

At least two weeks, and longer if any sign of disease appears. The point is that any illness shows up in the quarantine tank rather than in the main one, and most common diseases reveal themselves within that period.

Does a quarantine tank need a filter and heater?

Yes. A quarantine tank without filtration and a stable temperature stresses the fish more and delays recovery instead of helping it. A small sponge filter and a heater sized for the tank are enough, plus a separate thermometer to confirm the reading.

Is a hanging breeder box enough for fry?

It protects fry from being eaten in their first days and works for species that give birth to ready-formed fry. For large numbers or longer rearing, a separate tank is better because the water in it is more stable and there is more room.
