Questions before you choose

Do I have to use a dechlorinator at every water change?

Yes, every time you add tap water to the tank. Chlorine and chloramine damage fish gills and kill the beneficial bacteria in the filter, and chloramine in particular does not evaporate even if you leave the water standing for days, so the conditioner is not optional.

Do beneficial bacteria shorten the cycle of a new tank?

They help speed it up, but they do not skip it. A new tank needs time for the bacteria to settle on the filter media and actually work, and a water test is what tells you the tank is ready for fish, not the date you added the bottle.

Does an algae remover solve algae for good?

It clears what you can see, but algae returns within weeks if the cause is still there: long lighting, overfeeding or high nitrate. Fix the cause first, use the remover as a helper rather than the only answer, and cut lighting hours before anything else.
